Nicaragua Travelogue
In 2015, ADIÓS traveled to Nicaragua’s Pacific Coast, where 12 artists explored the rich landscape of dense jungle, volcanic belt, and tropical surf. The diverse group of filmmakers, photographers, fine artists, sculptors, designers, and musicians allowed the foreign and diverse environment to offer new perspectives that inspired their work. Collectively, the artists gathered content ideas from their surroundings and explored new concepts that were reflective of Nicaragua.
Following the Nicaragua retreat, ADIÓS partnered with Art Helix in Brooklyn, New York, for its first exhibition. Nicaragua’s local beer company, Toña, supported the opening event, which drew a diverse crowd of art enthusiasts from all over New York City. Visitors were shown a new and entirely unique perspective of Nicaragua through artwork in a variety of mediums. Printed photographs, video projections, painting, multimedia work, sculpture, and installations communicated the Nicaragua experience to a broad audience.
